To be honest I'm not a 100% sure whether or not this is a new feature from Medium.com… I am, however, 100% sure that I've never noticed it before. If anyone has seen it before last week then please let me know! Anyway the feature I’m referring to allows you to import stories from other locations and can be accessed in the ‘Your Stories’ section of the Medium user dashboard.
I’m really excited about this as it will help me save even more time when daily blogging. I’ve now been writing a daily blog for over 60 days and, as I wrote on day 30, the only inconvenience that I’ve encountered so far was the administrative aspect of having to post to a couple of places every evening! As I also wrote in that post, I’d decided at that point to only post to my own website (www.RichardDonelan.com) and to Medium from then on. This new (or alluded to above I think it’s new anyway) Medium feature has already removed another bunch of administrative pain.
My new workflow involves crafting my blog post in an Apple notepad, copying and pasting to my website Blog and then using the Medium import feature to simply and easily (and as if by magic) reproduce my blog on that platform. I also recently discovered that it’s now possible to update my SquareSpace powered website via an iOS app. This gives me the freedom to travel with just an iPhone or iPad instead of having to lug a heavy laptop and charger around.
It’s a pity that SquareSpace still requires a device with a mouse to edit the actual website itself but at least thing’s seem to be moving in a more mobile direction! Got any sweet productivity hacks or tricks that you’d like to share? Please let me know in the comments or message me directly here!
